Instagram's Head of Platform, Adam Mosseri, recently announced that the photo-sharing app would be shifting its focus towards video content. In a video posted on Twitter, Mosseri explained that while photo-sharing would still be part of the app, Instagram's future would revolve around videos. This change has received criticism from celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, who feel that Instagram is becoming too similar to TikTok.

TikTok allows users to scroll through full-screen videos without having to switch between posts, which some have found annoying. Mosseri believes that taking risks and trying new things is essential for growth, stating 'If we're not failing every once in a while, we're not thinking big enough or bold enough.'

However, the changes made by Instagram did not go down well with its users. The ability to download videos and photos has been removed, leaving only the option to download videos. Furthermore, the app will no longer recommend as many posts to users, as it works on refining its algorithm.

In a recent interview with Platformer, Mosseri mentioned that a test version of Instagram displaying full-screen photos and videos would be phased out in one to two weeks. It seems that Instagram is taking a step back to regroup and reassess its direction.
